Through workshops, performances and shared learning experiences, The Playhouse and its partners will create and hold space for participants to engage in meaningful connection and exploration of social justice issues through a creative approach that opens new perspectives.

The Playhouse

The Playhouse is one of the most vibrant theatres and arts organisations in Northern Ireland, established at a time of conflict to meet the needs and aspirations of people and communities.  We have since grown to become a national asset: an award-winning producing theatre, an empowering centre for learning and a global leader in the arts and peaceful change. 

We are contributing to global narratives and movements engaged in making new art and positive social change on an ecological, ethical and equitable basis. 

We matter to our locality and to the international communities we connect with and we continually innovate to offer a space to make meaning and a place that’s here for good. At the heart of what we do is play, embracing the transformative power of connecting people and ideas to make meaning together

Role in Making Peaceful Change

As lead partner for Making Peaceful Change, The Playhouse will oversee the project management of all strands of the programme. This includes producing Operation Desperation, coordinating the Leaders for Peace Network, and delivering That’s Powerful workshops across counties Derry, Tyrone, Cavan and Monaghan.

Inishowen Development Partnership

Inishowen Development Partnership (IDP) is a community-led Local Development Company, delivering rural development and social inclusion programmes on behalf of the Irish Government and the European Union since 1996. Operating across the Inishowen peninsula from offices in Buncrana and Carndonagh, IDP employs around 50 staff and delivers over 40 programmes.

IDP provides a wide range of services including employment services, enterprise and business start-up support, community development, education and training, youth development, and family support. It delivers key initiatives such as SICAP, LEADER, RSS, Tús, CE schemes, Slaintecare Healthy Communities, Local Area Employment Service and various other community programmes.

Guided by values of inclusivity, innovation, and collaboration, IDP works to address inequality, promote sustainable local development, and strengthen communities. Its core aim is to enable, empower, and support individuals, businesses, and communities in Inishowen to reach their full potential.

Role in Making Peaceful Change

Inishowen Development Partnership will take a lead role in the delivery of this project across Inishowen, wider Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim and Fermanagh, with a focus on coordinating and delivering That’s Powerful workshops.

Training for Women Network

Established in 1996, TWN has provided resources within the community to empower women across the public and voluntary sectors, the trade unions, education and training in taking a more active and informed role within a changing Northern Ireland requiring new capacity, knowledge, skills and experience.

TWN Aims

• Promote, develop and co-ordinate the provision of high quality vocational and prevocational education and training for women leading to sustainable employment and the empowerment of individuals and groups.
• Promote good practice in training for women.
• Promote, develop and co-ordinate the provision of high quality training designed to advance Peace and Reconciliation, ‘Good Relations’ and Equality of Opportunity.
• Facilitate vertical and horizontal integration of women into the labour market.
• Encourage women to take up leadership roles and become involved in decision making and public life.

Role in Making Peaceful Change

As part of Making Peaceful Change, TWN is providing support to That’s Powerful workshops, the Leaders for Peace Network, and Operation Desperation strands. Our partnership ensures the voices of women throughout Northern Ireland and the Border Counties are heard and used to promote positive change in our communities.
