Because sometimes, the things we find hardest to talk about are the things we most need to talk about.
The Funny Thing About Cancer is a brand-new rehearsed reading of a radio play by local writer Rosie Patton (The Unreal Housewives of Derry, How Not To Catch Gay), featuring a cast of six local performers.
The play explores the strange, difficult and often unexpectedly funny ways that people talk — and fail to talk — about the big things in life. In particular, the Big C.
Through podcast recordings, kitchen-table conversations and cups of tea, we meet a group of ordinary people brought together by an extraordinary diagnosis. As they navigate life during and after cancer, their circle grows to include new voices, stories and perspectives.
Heartfelt, funny and deeply human, the play explores support, communication, friendship and resilience, while celebrating the moments of laughter and connection that can help us face life’s toughest challenges.
Join us for a special first look at this new work — a story about finding laughter, honesty and connection in unexpected places.
AGE RANGE: Suitable for ages 15+
