Got a story to tell? Turn it into comedy!

Join BBC Comedy Writersroom graduate and sketch writer Peter E Davidson (BBC NI, BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio 4 Extra) for a practical, hands-on workshop exploring how sketch comedy can be used to entertain, challenge and inform.

Whether you’re completely new to sketch writing or looking to sharpen your comedy skills, I Have Bad News will take you through the techniques behind generating strong sketch ideas and finding fresh comedy territory.

Learn how to brainstorm effectively, develop topical sketches and format your work professionally for radio, television and stage. You’ll also explore how to write with a broadcaster or audience in mind, turning an idea into something that works beyond the page.

The workshop will combine practical exercises, writing challenges and expert guidance, giving participants the opportunity to put the techniques into practice and develop their own material.

Open to ages 15+. No previous writing experience is required — just bring your ideas, your sense of humour and a willingness to give it a go!

AGE RANGE: Suitable for ages 15+

CONTENT ADVICE: Some moderate language.
